Tutorial and Directions: Text Illustrations
Text can be a powerful medium to express different ideas. But what happens when the text becomes an object or shape and is slowly built up to create another object? In this project you will explore different text illustrations
Option 1 - Glyph Monster
Open the webpage found here and follow the steps.
Typeface Character Tutorial This serves as an additional example but is not the project.
Create your image on a document size of 11x17, (portrait style), with a 1/2 inch white border all the way around it.
Create an original image and save it as a pdf .
If you finish earlier than the rest of the class, create another Glyph Monster!
Option 2 - Text Illustration

Use full words instead of just individual glyphs.
Create your image on a document size of 11x17, (portrait style), with a 1/2 inch white border all the way around it.
Create an original image using words.
This site has many examples of both types of projects, along with other text projects.
These videos were introduced earlier but can be helpful to this project.
ASSIGNMENT:
Step 1: Choose a project, Glyph Monster or Text Illustration
Step 2: Create a collage of inspiration, pieces of artwork, or images you would like to try to recreate with text.
Step 3: Create your image in Illustrator
step 4: Hand in a pdf of your artwork.
Step 5: Insert your research and artwork into your portfolio.
Step 6: Reflect on your project.
